FInally got the old Shaman out and about again. Finished all Hellfire quests and am now halfway through 65. I think I overlevled for Hellfire. Meh.
Hellfire has some fun things. But I am now in Zangarmarsh doing my little thing. I also did a respec on Almuhan. He is an amazing healer, but I think I am going to solo to 70. So I went enhancement. Can dual wield 2 axes now and just rip things apart. Enhancement Shaman are scary. And I dont even have enhancement gear.Imagine how good I will be once I get some gear. Yummy!
Kvothe hit 31, almost 32 now. I really love my little Rogue.

Yvariell luck strikes again. Was being nosy, and decided to haul her to Moonglade, for the flight path. When I got there, I checked the dress vendor like I always do, and found that she had the super rare Formal Dangui up for sale. Bought it. Now I hope I can sell it, the most typical price for it is 200G. Hope it sells!

Sorry about the double post. WotLK is going to be released on Nov. 13th, according to the wow website. I guess I'd better go ahead and get Jan to level 55, before I miss out.

Lich King boxart! I like it. To be honest, I was never a big fan of the previous two box arts for WoW and Burning Crusade. This actually looks nice. I will set my preorder when I get a chance. I love WoW but I am not willing to stand in line for 12 hours at Best Buy to get it. Fuck that

I'm taking a temporary break from WoW, I may try to get Jan to level 55 before my prepaid time expires... I probably won't be back until a week or so before WotLK comes out. Playing Morrowind for the time being.

You have a wealth of content waiting for you in Outland as well. So that plus Northrend you will have lots to explore. I much prefer Outland over Azeroth. Theres more to do, its easier getting around from place to place and the instances are a lot cleaner and organized. I am sure Northrend will take a lot of that stuff from BC now that Blizzard has a better idea of what they are doing.

I got 55 a couple weeks ago with Ben but with his interest waning so is mine. I'm gonna be trying Lord of the Rings online sometime late October and then if I like it (it all depends on that game's economy, no matter how fun the game may be, if it's a bitch to make money, I'm not interested), I'll be leaving this one.
The quest to become the spiffiest Ken doll is just losing its charm for me.

From what I've seen all MMOs are like that. FF was no differant with its Artifact/Relic armor etc.
Besides, the point of gear in WoW, or any online game, is more for the stats to help move a player along to the next challange. Having it make you look better is just an extra.

having your armor level down with you now in FF is just the sweetest deal! I no longer need a set of 30 gear and 40 gear just to go help others, or go farming in pso xja. my gear now drops down to whatever level place I am in. It was such a huge mog house space eater.
How is that LOTR stuff? any fun? easy? Sorry to hear you are leaving WOW.

Well in FFXI you got new gear to make yourself stronger to move along. It was not your driving point. Or at the very least it wasn't designed to be. Even the endgame events had a part in the story. ...well except Sky I guess. Those gods barely fit in with the story that I remember. >.>
I'll concede that some of the instances have their own storyline and/or quests in WoW but not all do, and far too many of them are just merely mentioned in passing. Now, I know why: nearly all of them have their "lore" explained in previous Warcraft games. And well, I haven't played them. I think that's a major problem with me in this game. It's obviously designed with the assumption you know what's going on. For the fans. Well I don't, and I'm not. I picked it up because of its ease of access, and I love that about it...but there's just no drive.
And since the quests just basically boil down to "collect this" or "kill this many of that" for *every quest in the game,* I dunno it just gets kinda...boring. I just can't think of a better word. I like the quests where you have to find a certain item and then kill the boss because, y'know, that's the point of Dungeons in nearly any RPG on the market. But having to kill 100 of a beast to obtain a certain amount of item again and again and again...just grates on you. LotR apparently points these quests out overtly as "Deeds" and you get bonus stats for them because they KNOW they're obnoxious. >.>
FFXI was part dressup but that wasn't your ultimate goal. You get the gear to become strong enough to continue the storyline or enter a new area...and you honestly didn't really even need [most of] it. Here, WoW compares. But you're getting the gear in WoW just to earn the right to get more gear (and that's *exactly why* I didn't bother to do the AF+1 quests in FFXI). In FFXI, you had the option to get more gear and then that simply made it easier for you to move along in the game. Remember the Zilart missions? Ignoring that god awful headstone quest, we had to explore a dungeon and solve puzzles to find our way to the boss like most RPGs have you do. And although we stealthed our way through most of them (and we didn't have to), we had a lot of fun working together figuring out what to do and exploring a new area. And you reward wasn't always a new piece of gear, you got to hear more of the story and sometimes opened the way to new areas. And what about Divine Might? We got to experience the story together.
I guess the kinda game I'm looking for is one that's immersive with a driving plot with plenty of exploration. I want a reason to level up, not just to wear new clothes. I want to level up because I have to because I'm not strong enough to get through an area...not because I'm too low level to wear a shiny new shirt. I want to level up because I get a new ability, a job defining ability, not a rankup to an effect that two or more classes can do.
I loved the teamwork in FFXI and hated it at the same time. I don't have to explain to you about CoP. I like duoing or trioing because it's easier to manage and you don't have to worry about someone doing a stupid thing. ...well unless you're with Ben. SHINY ORE OVER THERE----OMG I'm DEAD.
For all I know LotR may do the same thing. But I won't know til I find out. But from what I'm reading, it sounds like a good game.

I miss having a storyline like FFXI did as well. WoW just doesn't cover much of the storyline in game. I do love the series storyline, but you just don't see much of it in the way of quests. I, for one, enjoy being the spiffiest barbie doll. Yay, dressup! I'm only taking a break now, because I read they're gonna strip honor points when they release WotLK, and I was just getting ready to start PvP as a hunter... so that's gotta wait. I also just got Morrowind, so that's currently my interest.

Understandable. I guess I myself just don't see a point to a story in MMOs. I love storys in single player RPGs but in MMOs I don't play it for that. Like any online game, RPG or not, I play for the interaction and team play. For me, thats what drives me. And for FF missions were really the only fun part for that (despite all the crap they make you endure). Cause grinding in that game gets repetetive. its no differant than killing 100 enemys in WoW for that one drop item really. You know, you guys might like Guild Wars. It is in the MMO category yet I don't consider it one just cause of some of the things about it. But there is a story line and that is the focal point of the game. There really isn't any sort of "grind" cause I think the level cap is 25. Don't quote me on that though. And from what my die hard friend tells me, each mission that involves story mode also has their own challanges within them. Like completing a certain mission again (they are repeatable) within a certain time. I'm not sure what the point of that is if there is some sort of reward or not. I just know it exists. As for partys, you can't play the game without a group. But this is porbably interesting for you guys I think. First of all when you sign up for a mission that requires a group you are put in with a random group of people to get the job done. No waiting around for invites or party members. Everything is automatic. And jobs do play roles but they aren't nearly as heavy as games like FF or WoW. In other words, you don't NEED a certain role filled. Like healer or tank. Yet there is still strategy involved. But if you don't like the idea of working with people then you can hire AI controlled henchmen. About 5 or 6 of them at a time. You have some control over them I think, kinda like Warlock pets or your FF companion but they are all AIed. The reason I don't play this game is cause it does keep you disconnected with other people. Towns are hubs where you will find lots of other players but as soon as you exit town the outside world is instanced. No one is around to help you while you quest and stuff. If you have people in a group then you share a world. I did not like that part of the game as I like the idea of bumping into some random stranger to help me with a quest if we both need it done or to give me a quick heal if I get in over my head. I like being connected with the people around me. Another thing to note is that a package was released not long ago caled The Guild Wars Trilogy I think its called. It comes with all three Guild Wars campaigns. Thats a neat thing about the game to is that you can buy differant campaigns (the trilogy comes with all of em). You can choose to start a new game within a campaign or use an existing character to continue the story within the areas of the campaign. And you don't need to do them in any sort of order. If you like you can start with Campaign 3, move on to 1 and finish off with number 2. The game also has an expansion though I don't know what that includes. As for characters you can only play as Human which I don't really like but its not that big of a deal really. But a thing to note is that each job class has its own set of facial features. Mage type characters have very pretty faces while Warriors have a more rough looking facial set. And you can customize your height. Yay! I played the game for a while and I didn't mind it. The reason I don't play it still is cause it didn't offer me what I wanted in an online RPG. But based on everything I read in your post, Caller, I think it might be for you. And its free. No monthly fee. Just do some reasearch on it and watch some videos but I think it might be what you're looking for. As for me, I am considering trying Warhammer soon. I need a new computer first. But I want to know how much the game relys on groups before I get it. I hope it is solo friendly to a degree but not the the extent of WoW. The big problem I have with WoW is that it is too damn solo friendly. It gets better when you hit Outland as more people are willing to instance there but that will change once Lich King is out. But the problem with this now is that that will mean starting a a grind to level whatever all over again. I don't mind grinding really I just don't like the idea of doing it again for the third time, you know? It took three years for me to get 75 in FF, 1 year for 70 in WoW. How long would it take to get level capped in Warhammer I wonder? I don't know. Maybe I should just quit MMOs to save myself the trouble.
