whoa, never thought I would see that. PS guy doing a FFXI toast. nice!
Got all my sub jobs unlocked. I did the final CS for Puppetmaster last night. Got some frames for her, and...put her away.
Working on some jobs. WHM 95 BST 95 THF 67 RDM 55 BLU 38 BLM 35 DNC 34 and so forth with a down hill slide after that. Trying to get BLM to 50 so I can have it as a sub job, but i am so bored with it. UGH! BLM sucks! Better than nin tho. I simply cant stand that job. So, im pecking away. Going to do the next COP mission and am so pleased to be able to do dyna now.

I gotta unlock Yvondith's advanced jobs, I only have a few that are unlocked. I think I completed the hard part of DRK already, when we had the Halloween event.
Working on Yvondith's evasion still. Need to find an EXP group for merits as well. I need to complete Closed Position and start Fan Dance, then cap out my evasion and dagger merits... and so much more.

Y'know I was looking at my Body pieces today for my empyrians and I'm...not impressed. Goetia...I really can't decide if the body piece ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Goetia_Coat_%2B1is better than the Yhel Jacket. ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Yhel_JacketIt's almost impossible to find Magic Crit rate gear, and the spellcasting time and MP+ on the Goetia is moot really, though I am liking that Magic Accuracy. Not to mention the NM I have to fight is ungodly expensive...and I don't think it's worth that money. I haven't decided yet. The +2 is 100% worth it though, yes please! I am close to getting the Estoquer's body piece, though it's shit. ffxi.gamerescape.com/wiki/Estoqueur%27s_Sayon_%2B1It's only slightly better than the Teal Saio, but I don't care, I hate the Teal set. <.< And to get the THF body I have to fight a goddamn Scorpion, but it seems to be a cakewalk, may even be able to duo it. I'm just not that impressed with the THF body. Haste +4% is nice but Dagger +3 isn't gonna do shit, and I'm giving up a shitton of other buffs from the Alcide's harness for that. I really don't see why THFs use that piece, not even the +2 is going to trump the +11 Accuracy and Evasion on Alcide's. The DPS increase is probably substantial, sure, but if I pull hate, and I already do, I'm going to want that Evasion. I guess most of the gear is really only worth it for the +2 gear's Set Bonuses, most of which are fantastic. BLM's is stellar, THF's is fantastic, RDM's....is...well situational, really. It's fan-freaking-tastic for some spells (Phalanx and Haste!) but others...it really only saves MP, and RDM is NEVER in dire need of MP.

Pretty productive day in XI for me so far:
- +2 ninja pants - +2 warrior pants - 7/9 of item for +2 nin/war body piece.
Still like 0/50 on gangly gean though. Seriously, fuck that tree.

I'm usually pretty good at knowing where I stand on the enmity line. Years of tanking taught me this. However around the time lolibri merit parties started is when enmity went to shit, and that was the downfall of PLD.
Now Abyssea has everyone role playing roid raging He-men so everyone's at the cap. But even though enmity is lost every time you take damage or you lose a shadow, it is instantly reached again within one attack round.
It's important to know how enmity works to understand that it's not really the cap that's the problem. There are two very distinct types of enmity: Cumulative and Volatile.
Cumulative is built up by auto-attacks and mostly anything that deals or heals damage. Enmity+ or - gear *directly* influences this equation. It does not decay over time, only by suffering damage/losing shadows or by enmity reducing abilities. NO enmity is lost if the enemy does not damage you. This is what makes evasion tanks so good at hate control. It's important to note that critical hits will accrue more cumulative enmity. This was intentionally done to help Thieves with SATA. It pretty much backfired as time went on. Think of Cumulative Enmity as your Enmity Floor. Your enmity will never go lower than this amount, which steadily falls as you take damage. This is precisely why MNK and NIN pull hate so quickly: their ridiculously fast attack speed puts them to the hate cap nearly instantaneously, and they STAY THERE because they can dodge and counter the whole time.
Volatile is built up exclusively through job abilities, spells, and certain weapon skills (such as Sanguine Blade). It is basically a very high spike of enmity that decays extremely rapidly. Flash and Provoke are examples of Volatile enmity. Enmity gear only affects the *maximum enmity* this will cause, and may affect the decay rate. As such, these abilities are not reliable ways to control the flow of battle, but rather influence it. It was intentionally designed this way to make battles "more interesting" because the Devs 100% believe that if the tank had complete control over the enemy the battles would be boring. In some sense, I can agree with this, but with Abyssea you're seeing why this was not well thought out. Notice how Provoke and Flash do *jack shit.* Provoke used to be a way to hold enmity, but that's because we were fighting IT++ mobs like idiots and melees were gimping themselves. The volatile enmity was more than enough to hold the line. That's not true anymore.
This is easily proven by SCH's Libra ability. If you Provoke/Flash pull a mob, and do no other actions to it, you will eventually (and quickly) fall to 1% enmity (the absolute lowest you can fall once you perform an action on a mob). However if you punch pull a mob, you'll stay at that enmity level for as long as the enemy lives, even if you turn around, provided it doesn't hit you or eat a shadow (which will slowly shed enmity).
Because of the enmity cap and the extreme ease of reaching it, volatile enmity is patently useless now. However raising the cap or removing it entirely will do nothing to solve these problems; melees will simply reach enmity levels heretofore unknown. SE needs to redesign enmity from the ground up and that may no longer be possible. Enmity needs to decay much more quickly (and give traits to tank jobs to reduce this decay rate), whether volatile or cumulative. Further, jobs with attack speed traits (Martial Arts, etc) need a trait that reduces enmity per attack round to go along with it. This way, even though they will still pull hate if they go crazy with JAs and WSs, the tank will still stand half a chance to do their job. Some moderation should still be required on the melee's part (this is not an action game) but to have them gimp themselves and drag out the battle to ungodly long lengths is just counter-intuitive.
Perhaps it should be redesigned so that all party members are part of a percentage (up to 100) in enmity versus any given target. All party members gradually build enmity as the fight goes on, but it's proportional. Whomever has the biggest piece of the pie will be the enemy's target. The tank will have abilities to build hate more quickly than most other party members, but melees can reach maximum enmity if they do too much damage or use too many abilities, or the healer can pull hate if they have to cure too much, etc. It would be possible to go over 100% enmity on a target which basically means you royally pissed it off and be prepared to eat a few punches before it comes under control again. That overage should be capped so that not all melees can breach it. 100% will be the cap unless it is breached by an excessive amount of damage or cure, perhaps, otherwise the cap will be 150% maybe, and so the tank and that person have to work in tandem to reduce that extra 50%. WoW gave me that idea actually, by watching the threat bars.

In trial of AD. Did like 12 runs of Isgebind (think uber tiamat). It was a rare occurance they did a Abys run, as they normally do nothing but Voidwatch. Got his (somewhat) useless atma, a triplus dagger (ducks yue's rock) and a snow belt. Not bad for the first day

Turning over the outpost was EASY! I just traded a bunch of high level equipment bought with curour and traded it to the little dude. Triunid, Chakoteh and I flipped it. it was the only outpost I was missing and soooo inconvenient. So many of my little friends are there and if I need to pearl someone or meet someone its a long way around. I can of course do the maw jump, but I wanted that OP! So, we flipped it! I ran thru the streets yelling about it too. it was a great feeling of accomplishment.
On a more somber note, my current LS has turned to shit. There was some infighting because one man wanted to be in charge of everything, and its a team, not a dictatorship, and he got all pissed off because folks ran off and did a quest when he wasnt on, and he thought they were leaders, and should have waited for him, even tho it wasnt a LS party...OMG! when will grown ups act like grown ups?! So, He started his own LS and since he is a GMT heavy handed player, many followed him, and they dragged a friend or two with them, and before ya know it, our shell was empty. The owner just had a baby and works 15 hour days so he couldnt be there to sac and unsac folks so we voted a new leader. She sits in an empty shell most days and watches others zip past her without even waving! WTF?? So, her feelings got really hurt and she had a temper tantrum and ripped the leaders lounge a new hole. She told them all where they could stick their pearls. She will be breaking the shell this week, so if you have a pheynixrising WalkingWounded pearl, it will go away this week. Any or all are welcome to have their pearl replaced with a shiney new one. See Jubeighost or Chikamatsu or chaosprime. As for me...well...I think I have had enough of the drama and BS. I think I want to rest and just go be a player without any of the BS that comes with being a co owner, leader, mentor, guide or whatever.
my BST is wonderful! I am soloing my way thru COP. Would love to help Yvo or her kitty when she is ready.
