Caller and I both are waiting to see what Square-Enix's new MMORPG is. We're hoping it's Ivalice based, but... we'll see. Also could be FFXI-2, or something new entirely.

Yes, it's named Rapture, I think. They said something along the lines of it replacing FFXI, but of course, it was a translation error. Had the entire FFXI community up in arms. So, it's possible it could be related to FFXI. If it is, I don't think I'm interested. If it's based off of Ivalice, I'm very interested, but of course the standard issues apply, can I run it?

BioWare and Lucasart's Star Wars: Old Republic MMO is going to be the world's first large-scale massively multiplayer game to be all talk. As in, no text messages whatsoever.
The amount of voice acting work that's going to require must be absolutely mind-blowing. And it also raises a few issues. Like, how can you personalise your character's name if the game is all talk? Either you'll constantly be referred to as "Jedi" or "that Star Wars guy", or you'll be choosing from a roster of pre-determined characters when starting the game.

This next one looks great to me.
Xbox 360 exclusive psychological action thriller Alan Wake is hitting Spring 2010, telling the story of a bestselling author's battle with writer's block. Obviously, that battle gets a little more interesting when shotguns are involved.
Developer Remedy, responsible for the Max Payne series, is bringing "multilayered character interactions, unique problem-solving and intense combat against terrifying enemies" with Alan Wake, a title that looks to have a big focus on play with the contrast between light and dark.
In the trailer we saw during Microsoft's E3 press conference, Wake fended off nightmarish creatures with a flashlight and flares, powering a giant floodlight with a generator to stop of horde of things not quite human.
Players will assume the role of Wake as he searches for his missing wife in the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls. The official announcement name checks Twin Peaks and The X-Files, should you like that kind of vibe.

Hideo Kojima has just popped up at Microsoft's keynote, and announced that the Metal Gear Solid franchise is coming to Xbox 360 with an all-new title.
This game is called Metal Gear Solid Rising, is a completely-new title, and rather than starring Solid Snake, will star Raiden.
Now, importantly, he didn't mention the word "exclusive". He just said it was "in development" for the 360.

FF 13 Spring of 2010 for the 360. Oddly enough, no mention for the PS3 yet. This scares me.
Also, they are talking about how terrible the voice dub for the english version was on the clips they saw.

WOW. Microsoft had a great lineup. But forget about the games for a moment. Project Natel was the real star. THAT is the future of gaming imo. Nintendo should be worried (Ubisofts camera for wii was very unimpressive). So should Sony.
So, a great lineup of games, plus a new technology thats going to change gaming as we know it... I have no idea how Nintendo and Sony will top MS's show...
I hope the shows tommorrow will be great. I just don't see them topping MS...

I am looking forward to the The Old Republic MMO.
As for Metal Gear Solid, before now there was flash page on Kojima's website. Every now and then you'de see a flash of Big Boss on the screen. I was thinking it would be a MGS game set in the past with Big Boss as the lead, like MGS3. But its a Raiden game. Not too thrilled with that. I don't want MGS to turn into a hack n slash. Not to mention I don't like Raiden. Wish this was a Big Boss game. Seeing as Snake is too old and Raiden is just...... -_-
Not really a whole lot I am interested in right now. The Old Republic, Metal Gear Solid and Diablo 3 are the only titles I hope to see stuff on. Nintendo will probably show off some dumb fitness thing and continue to alienate gamers. Such is their way.
EDIT>> I forgot about Mass Effect 2. Add that to the list

Well, FFXII's voice acting was atrocious in their teaser trailers, but that thankfully changed. Sometimes they just hire people to do the work for the previews so we can only hope that's the case in 13. ...and that said yes, it could still suck. As for what they would call you in a fully voiced game, have you played Dragon Quest 8? If so I'd imagine something similar, pretty much right along your suggestions there. If you haven't, they'd always call the hero something like "guv" or "m'boy." Similarly, in FFX where they'd call Tidus "new guy" or just plain "you" if they even mentioned him at all. I find it kinda...hard to swallow though that *every last character in the game* would be fully voiced. Surely in an MMO there would be countless NPCs and granted a handful of voice actors could simply change the pitch of their voice and do a multitude of them, but given all the quests I've done in WoW and FFXI...that's a hell of a scope they're looking at. I'll have to watch the trailers tomorrow, can't find my damn headphones again.

Hmm, Caller that Screenshot of the Square game you posted was of their 360 tech demo I thought.

Square are the kings of procrastinating.

Yeah see that's what I'm thinking...that these news sites are simply reusing a picture they've had and calling it a new press release. But we won't know til Wed at the earliest since that *is* when SE are gonna release some new info for E3. I'm curious, I'll say that much.

Looks like the PlayStation 3 is getting a double dose of Final Fantasy next year, as Sony reveals a new online Final Fantasy XIV for the PlayStation 3. Yes, XIV.
A complete and utter surprise to the entire audience, Final Fantasy XIV will be coming to the PlayStation 3 exclusively next year, assumedly after Final Fantasy XIII is released. A brief trailer was shown which looked very much like Final Fantasy XI, with the text "A new online epic begins."
So it sounds like an exclusive, massively multiplayer online game for the PlayStation 3. We'll have more as soon as there is more to have!
Update: Note that FInal Fantasy XIV is console exclusive to the PlayStation 3, with the PC also getting a version.
