Gil is mounds easier to get as long as you have one character that can access abyssea maps. Not that there isn't other ways to make money (as she mentioned prior to me), but only in abyssea can you make money simply just by leveling your character. That alone made me keep playing the game. I have enough of the currency to keep me running for as long as I don't impulse buy everything I see XD Going through sky again was so much less traumatizing then back in the day. It was kinda neat to go around in the palace without too much fear. Yue and I can duo almost everything now (minus new NMs, but duh) so takes a lot of grouping pressure out of the game. ...Byakko anyone? I need UC to get back into the game too because he was the only one with any hopes of outdamaging me (ducks Yue's brick)

I'm not a DD, I never was a DD, I'm an "outlaster." Nothing can kill me. Obscene evasion on THF, and obscene defense on PLD and obscene utility (eventually) on RDM. I am your Taru god. We should tell you though that it's not as easy as "jumping into it" like they're making it out. It takes a little bit of waiting before Abyssea becomes more constant. You need Traverser Stones to enter, and you get one every day (and you can increase that rate through cruor items) and to enter, you need to do a couple quick quests. They're pretty simple, you just go there and enter the maw, but it's a little tedious at first. Plus, there is a LOT of walking before you unlock the telepoints inside each Abyssea area so if you come back, we'll take you through either Konschtat or Altepa to get you some easy and quick cruor to unlock some telepoints for you. But after all that, it's as easy as joining a party and going. You get around 100k-150k exp an hour with most parties, and good parties can double that. Seriously. People are constantly shouting for groups in Port Jeuno now (the Seek Party tag isn't used all that much for it) so there's rarely a shortage of parties. You can enter as early as 30, but most people won't take you unless you're 70+ unless you're a healer. You can get roughly 50k-75k cruor per Abyssea party, sometimes more, and that's can be used to purchase about 70k+ gil worth of items. That adds up *fast,* because almost all low level gear is dirt cheap now because people level so quickly, and the abyssea gear is extremely good (well, not the mage set, unless you're a blm or sch, and rdm to some extent) so you don't need to buy the "good" stuff right away either. The game is more accessible than it has EVER been. We're trying to get some jobs to 90 so we can actually play the content in this game. It does take a little bit of the "excitement" out, shall we say, when we can totally brutalize the bosses in CoP missions, but frankly, after 5 years of red tape and super incompetent parties, I don't even care anymore. I wanna see the story, and I wanna see the new (5 year old) areas.

Ego much? Yvon is currently the same way, to outlast. I am invincible on dancer, for the most part. It'll be better once I get merited, and cap evasion and parrying. *scoffs* Yeah, capped parrying... that's a joke, right? Hoping I feel up to a party later on tonight. Need to get 90.

I need UC to get back into the game too because he was the only one with any hopes of outdamaging me (ducks Yue's brick) It's comments like this that make me want to come back.... xD What's the deal with restoring deleted characters these days? Do I have to wait for another one of those Return To Vana'diel events? I completely cancelled my content ID and everything when I quit.

If you only canceled your content IDs, it's as easy as reactivating them. No need to wait. If you deleted Vachir, then you should be able to bring him back right now, since the Character Reactivation Service is back up and running. But if you didn't, all you need to do is reactivate your content ID with Vachir on it. It would be wonderful if you two came back to the game. It would be like old times again! Except, I'm a taru now, not a kitty.

The Welcome Back campaign is apparently having issues because they keep taking it down for maintenance. If it's not up when you try, try again later is all I can say. But like she said if all you did was deactivate you can come back at any time, but make sure you update your payment info if you were using a Visa.

Ah, I only deactivated the content ID, I didn't delete any characters. Well, I hope anyways, I don't remember deleting them. I'll think about it then. I don't think I can return this week, got too much going on at work, but I might be able to next week... One question, how long do these Abyssea parties usually last? I won't have enough time per night for massively long sessions. xD

That's another thing I am worried about too. I don't want to spend too much time.

Abyssea parties last for a long time, but people come and go constantly, since it's a full alliance. If you gotta go, then go, someone will replace you. The party doesn't grind to a halt because you leave. Unless you're the only healer, I suppose.
I got 90, finally. Capped my Haste Samba merits, so my Haste Samba gives 10% haste now. Started working on Reverse Flourish merits.
By the time I finish meriting my abilities I will be a TP machine. ;D

After I get Yvondith merited for DNC, I will focus on leveling my Mithra girl. I'll come back to Yvondith for missions and events, and when I want to level a mage job. Next on my list is THF, and I want a Mithra for that. Also, look ma, no jaggies! i1192.photobucket.com/albums/aa323/Yvondith/random_stuff/capture_04072011_022433.jpgWell, almost none. Graphics card update put the last nail in the jaggies coffin. Thank god. Killed the jaggies in the model viewers too. ;D

The party I was in today lasted almost six hours, and longer than that, technically, because that's when I left. They were still going strong. You join and leave whenever you want, that's how it works. There are no tanks, just DDs and BLMs murdering everything, with a RDM/WHM/SCH/DNC healing. You usually are in a full alliance, and exp works by calculating hidden exp chains (the more you fight the same family of monster, the more exp you get) which will eventually build up to over 600 exp a kill. I am in no way exaggerating when I say parties can reach 150k-200k exp/hr. It's a little slow at first, that's how it works while you build up the chain, and the exp penalty still applies so if you're below 90, it'll take you longer to reach the cap, but you will eventually hit it. If you come back for real, I'll explain to you how the Lights work because it's easier to actually see them in action than for me to write them all out.

Right. A lot of times, people just bail without saying a word. So, if you wanna leave, then leave. No guilt.
I would love to see the both of you come back to the game. FFXI is so much more enjoyable now. You can get a new character from level 1-90 within a week if you try hard enough, seriously. You can solo to 30 now with no problems. Some people solo all the way to 90. I've seen newbies come into my other linkshell, and go from level 1-90 within a month. And like we said, money is no issue right now either.
Hoping to finish up Windurst missions soon, maybe even tomorrow.

I am now on Windurst mission 9-2. If we can manage to keep Ajido-Marujido alive, we'll have rank 10 Windurst. Unfortunately, this one is supposed to be the hardest of all 3 nation's fights where you have to protect a NPC. Ajido grabs hate really, really easily and has crap for HP. That said, I have really enjoyed the Windurstian storyline. It's answering stuff I have wondered for years.
After I finish this last mission, like all melees who hit level 90, I need to go to the Boyahda Tree and skillup my evasion and dagger. Neither are capped, and evasion is very, very far behind now. After I hit level 50, I was no longer able to keep it up.
I also gotta level Ninja to 45. I adore Warrior as a support job for DNC, but I feel I may need the Utsusemi spells if I expect to be invincible.
After I get merited up, I can focus on building my mithra THF. I wanna finish up my job merits, then merit all the other stuff. Working on Dagger skill, since a lot of mages can use daggers, and since DNC relies on them. I figure the drain MP weapon skills may have some use. If I change my mind, I can always wipe them and get new ones. MP merits too. I know I don't need them, but I want them. After playing with icky mithran MP for years, taru MP is just awesome.

Did the same, I'm ready to go on 9-2. Also got an amazing deal on some HQ Staves, didn't buy the whole set, but they were 20k-30k cheaper than the AH, so most were 60k-70k. Found them in someone's bazaar in Rolanberry and had to jump on it. I'm also looking into buying the Ark Angel TT statue because...DUH.
