I have been re playing FFXII lately. I ran through it last time, and missed out on alot of story line, and allowed myself to be frustrated by several bad mobs that needed me to be much stronger to stand up to them.
I tend to be quite strategic, and can work my way into big areas, even before level requirements are met. That just leads to that bigger boss who wont take no for an answer, so this time I am going slower, and trying to be stronger before i advance my game.
Any tips?

Find a good spot to level and grind. Its a pain in the ass but trust me you will be happy. After you finish leveling you can take your time and explore. No need to worry about dying if you enter a new area usually. Makes the game more fun.
Level early, and level a lot. Good plans.

I have been switching off players to make sure everyone is up to level, and making money to buy better equip. its not good to be level 17 with a level 10 sword. I have been out in the sand sea area. its mobs are pretty evenly spaced, and I have gone from level 14 to 17 now. I am aiming for at least 18 or 19 before going into the kings tomb land. There is a good merchant just outside the tomb who sells good weapons, so that will help. At least I beat that stupid flying Garuda. he was a pain.

Set up a gambit so that someone steals at the beginning of every fight. Can't recommend that enough, because the steal success ratio is so high in this game. You'll have so much money that you can always be decked out in the best gear. I started doing this in the Sand Dunes place (can't remember the name...) and I had no problems throughout the game from there on. Just make sure to kill everything and keep your licence's updated and you should be fine. The only pain in the ass things in this game are the optional bosses...

excellent idea! I have a gambit set up to protect party leader constantly, and that really helps. I also have cure ally <60% and that helps. Im learning. I am actually taking my time, and really playing the game this time. Last time rushed through it and skipped scenes, and just raced. Now I am taking my time, and leveling up before skipping to the next scene, and set up. Its been alot of fun.

I rechecked, and I didnt have anyone's gambit set for steal. No wonder I was not making much money! So, I reset several for stealing, and the money is once again rolling in. it makes things TONS easier when you have the money to buy the things you need. I finally got the license points to get everyone a 500HP bump. I am stealing great armor, and weapons. nice!

I restarted my game. I had the hang of it again, and was following the story line better. I felt that I could do better than I had done, so I restarted, and Vaan has been stealing, and stealing. I am surprised by how much armor he steals. I have a huge pocket full of phoenix down. No shortage of potions, and loads of stuff to sell. I have been able to buy every magic spell, and gambit, and everyone has great armor on them. This has been going much better this time.

Good to hear. Ive been tempted to start playing again myself. With 13 like 5 years away I need my FF fix... Though they did just release FF7 for the PSP (Via playstation network download) so thats tempting too.
