A man named George Hotz published "PS3 easy Hacks" to be able to hack into your PS3 to do great and wonderful things. Sony was upset and took severe legal action against him. A group of hackers say its his constitutional rights to have free speech and be able to say what he wants about what HE did to HIS OWN PS3, and that SONY is way out of line to attack him legally and financially. The hackers have burrowed into the SOny Playstation network and caused a "denial of service" virus so that you cannot sign into the network. Anyone who uses a PS3 knows that without the network, you go no where on the PS3. Even new discs from games that dont need internet use the PSN to update those discs and add new information...check to see if they are legal discs...and so on.
You will try to use your PS3 and be told that you have been signed out of the PSN, please sign in. When you try to sign in, it will take a LOOOOONG time, and then give you error code 80710092 saying that you need to reset your router, modem or PS3. you can do this till you are blue in the face. As long as the Playstation network is down, you are going no where fast on your PS3.
Story #5 is about PSN.
Try to go to Playstation.com and if you are able to sign on later on in the day or week, try your PS3. if you cant sign on with your PC, you wont be able to sign on with PS3. Sorry, but NO PS3 games till this is fixed. A few folks say they can get to the internet thru their PS3, but most are blocked till they sign back into the network.
Will update you as I can.

Huh. I had that problem last night but I've had it before, but it did let me log in and I was on Dragon Age with very little trouble. Maybe I'm lucky for once.

Frack, that is crazy. I say sue him. To hell with the people defending him. If he is offering people a way to obtain any info about me or even something small like delete my saves then legal action should be taken. Although it does kinda suck that the PS3 requires it to be online to play newer games. I'd say most people have the internet anyways but you never know. Some people may not want to have their systems online.

how does preventing ME from logging onto FFXI help their cause? I mean if you block Sony itself from something, thats a way to get their attention, but to prevent the little guy from being able to use their machine is just mean!
What this guy did went OVER the line. He didnt just do free speech, he showed folks how to dismatle their PS3 and cheat cheat cheat! it literally hacked open the unit and unless you were talented you could really mess up a machine. and NO its not covered under warranty if you do this. He messed up more machines than ever got hacked the way he intended. I say he was a mental case who was causing more harm than good, and sony needed to stop him. Now we have a room full of kids with nothing better to do than keep me from playing MY game who think they are brilliant. Sheesh! come on!
I managed to get on the game, but get dumped easily and have to do a rull reboot to reconnect. Not worth it to get in any party right now. I will give them till Monday to fix this or I am laying the controller down for a while. I wont kill the game, just ignore it. This is really sad. I feel picked on.
