Hey everybody! Its almost time for E3. The fun starts on June 6th with Sony & Ubisoft and maybe others. Nintendo is on June 7th & I think Microsoft is too. G4 will be running the press confences again & of course you can find them on the internet too. I'll will, without a doubt, be watching Nintendo's conference on G4 since my folks want to see their announcements too. Here are some early E3 2011 thoughts from me: NINTENDOThis is going to be a BIG year for Nintendo (again!). This year the focus will be, mostly, on the new Nintendo 3DS, but the Wii will gets some cool titles too and also... Nintendo will be announcing a new console! There are a lot of rumors floating around about the new console. Nobody really knows what it'll be like though. My guess is that it'll be VERY different the Wii but backwards compatible with Wii games & the Wii controller. Ya, I know both of those guesses are no brainers. Despite some people calling this new system the Wii 2, it won't be that. IF I had to guess more, we'll see Nintendo go HD and the new system will be more powerful than the Wii. Hopefully more powerful than the PS3 & 360 too. Too much hope? Maybe. That said, I'm much more excited about the 3DS announcements. I just bought a 3DS in March and can't wait to see all the cool new titles for it. Especially the new Animal Crossing! I want info on that! A lot of info. I'm looking forward to the AC3DS announcement more than anything else. Anyway, I'm calling it now: Nintendo will "win" E3 this year! SONYPoor Sony. The whole PSN getting hacked thing, plus taking PSN down & taking forever and a day to bring it all back...well...its not been good for Sony's image. Yes, finally the PSN is back. Including the store. But Sony is going to have to do a lot of "We're Sorrys" and "Here's some awesome stuff" at E3. Sony will, without a doubt, have the most pressure on it to have a GREAT E3 show. They can't do what they did last year: focus on the Casual audience and only have a couple of hardcore announcements. This year HAS to be about the hardcore PS3 gamer thats stuck with Sony throughout the whole PSN mess. We have to see a bunch of cool games & some cool new suprises. And it would be nice if Sony gives us an idea on how they will make the PSN online better in the future. Why should we stick with the PSN? How will the online, the store, and maybe the interace of the PS3 get better? We need answers. Sony has to deliever BIG at this E3. They just have to. MICROSOFTI admit that I haven't been keeping up with Microsoft as much lately. I thought that E3 last year for Microsoft was horrible. The Kinect was over hyped and it looked an awful gimmick to capture the Wii's casual audience. I was so bored by their conference last year. This year, my hope is that Kinect will only be a side thing (like the PS3's Motion controller I hope) and Microsoft will get back to showing off some cool games. I may not have a 360 anymore, but I'm still rooting for Microsoft. Actually, I'm rooting for all three companies. I can't really offer anymore insights in Microsoft this year. What do you all think? Will Microsoft have a better E3 this time? As for Nintendo & Sony, what are your thoughts there? I will be posting my thoughts on the conferences & the game news, plus links too when E3 starts. Can't wait! DF2506 " Also looking forward to the big 3DS update next week!!"

Konami announced some stuff yesterday (they couldn't wait till E3. I wish Nintendo felt the same way. lol). Here's an IGN link: ps3.ign.com/articles/117/1172412p1.htmlMy thoughts on some of the annoucements: Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3DS: Looks neat. One of the features, the ability to use photos from your 3DS as camo, sounds strange (but this is MGS! lol). Also, Snake finding a Yoshi figure? Wonder what thats about... Metal Gear Solid HD: Awesome! I'm a HUGE fan of Metal Gear Solid 2. Love that game. MGS2 in HD AND with trophies and other stuff. Sign me up! Plus Metal Gear Solid 3 (Snake Eaaatterr!) and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (which I've never played). *drools* I gotta get this! (side note: though I do wish they had included the MSG1 remake from the Gamecube too). Silent Hill HD: Silent Hill 2 and 3 HD. I think I've played 2, but I haven't played 3. This should be neat. Silent Hill: Downpour: Its been awhile since I've played a Silent Hill game. Hopefully this is cool. And there's other news too, but thats the stuff that interested me. DF2506

Was thinking it was nearly time for your yearly E3 thread, DF If you have any news about the new Elder Scrolls game, will you please post about it? That's really the only game I'm interested in this year.

Sign me up for the MGS an Silent Hill HD versions. I hope the new Silent Hill doesn't suck. I didn't like 4, 5, or 6 all that much and I have not played 7. We'll see how 8 is. I think the series is getting stale though. The first three were rock solid, freaky games but after that....meh.
Hopefully we see some new RPGs at E3.

Will do Steph. I remember seeing an article about the new Elder Scrolls game in Game Informer and thinking that it looked amazing. I'm sure it'll be at E3. I'll make sure to look for news/impressions of it. Norfy, I don't think I've played a Silent Hill since...hmmm...maybe the Room? It was OK. I still like the first one the best. Never have gotten the chance to play the Wii remake of it. Hopefully the new one is cool. And I totally agree about RPGs. I hope we see a lot of new ones for the PS3 and the 3DS. I will look for news & impressions of new RPGS for sure. Oh and correction from my first post. I think Microsoft is showing on June 6th, same day as Sony. Not postive though. I'll keep an eye out and update as soon as I know. Edit: Looked at the Ign page and they are saying it is June 6th for Micrrosoft's conference. I may or may not tune in for it. I will at least look for some Microsoft news at Ign & post it here for those that have a 360. I will be watching Sony & Nintendo's conferences for sure. Edit2: Looks like SpikeTV will once again be running the Microsoft conference on Monday and G4 will have a Spotlight: Microsoft thing with demos on Tuesday. I may or may not tune in for the conference on Monday, but I'll try & check out the spotlight on Tuesday. Its right after the Nintendo spotlight. Anyway, there are a lot of rumors about Nintendo's new system. The newest rumor says that the system will be out mid-2012 and have a touch screen controller. Hmm. We will find out for sure what Nintendo's system is on Tuesday. Btw, here's Ign's E3 page: www.ign.com/events/e3It does have some pre-E3 stuff on it. Though I think the Konami stuff is the most interesting so far. Well, two more days until E3!! Looking forward to it a lot this year. DF2506

Here's what I can't wait to see more of from Ign's list: Bioshock Infinite: This game still won't be out for awhile, but it looks amazing! Hope there's some gameplay of this at E3. Spiderman: Edge of Time: I liked Shattered Dimensions, so I'm very interested in this new game. Elder Scrolls V: Whoa. Jaw-dropping graphics and cool looking gameplay. I'm sure we'll see something new about this. White Knight Chronicles 2: The first one was good, expect for the ending. I'm looking forward to seeing what the new one will have. Super Mario 3DS: Looks fun! Zelda: Skyward Sword: Will it finally come out this year? lol. Uncharted 3: The first were great. The third one should be amazing. Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One: Four player online co-op Ratchet & Clank!? Yes, please! Its looks fun. Resistence 3: I saw a gameplay trailer of this one and it looks really good. I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. Batman: Arkham City: The first one was one of the best superhero games I've ever played. The second one should be even better! And there are a lot more games I'm looking forward to (like Animal Crossing 3DS), but those are the ones from Ign's list that I'm interested in. I think its going to be a really great E3. DF2506

Skyrin is set for release on 11-11-11? I know what I'm getting for my birthday!!! ;D
The game sounds awesome, I can't wait to get my paws on it. My man, Edwinn, now named Vareldon, will be coming back as my hero in the new game. I know I should play a Nord, but again, I'm probably going to be a Breton, assuming the racials are the same.
Just... dowant dowant dowant! Like, right now!

Ok, here's my impressions on three of the press conferences held today. I missed the EA one.
MICROSOFT
Well, things started out great. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare looked really good, other games shown like Mass Effect 3 and Battlefield (especially) blew me away. Then....
....they brought out the Kinect games. Ugh. I have to say that the only one that looked OK was the Star Wars one. Overall, while things started out great, Microsoft dropped the ball mostly.
The final Halo 4 reveal was neat, but not mind blowing. Basically I think Microsoft did almost as bad as they did last year.
Grade: C
UBISOFT
Rayman Origins! Wow! Its sort of like Donkey Kong Returns, but maybe with better graphics. Just a really fun looking game.
Assassins Creed! Whew. Wow. Great graphics, neat gameplay.
Other than that, UGH. Ubisoft had a really bad showing. I got a brief laugh out of the Rabbids Kinect game (when the rabbids were popping out of the ground).
Overall, awful job Ubisoft.
Grade: D
SONY
WOW!!!!
Right off Sony showed some new gameplay from Uncharted 3. It looks AMAZING. The new boat sequence is a thousand times better than Uncharted 2 beginning (and thats saying a lot). Jaw-dropping stuff.
Then, we got to see Resistence 3, Bioshock Infinite, Star Trek (drools. it looks very cool), and...oh man...I can't believe I'm saying this but even the MOVE games looked good! I'm not a sports fan, but the basketball game looked good. And the Medevil game looked fun.
Oh and I'm seriously eating crow about the PSVita (not sure about the name though). I said I thought it was just a DS Meets PSP thing, but my jaw was on the floor when I saw Uncharted for the Vita. Such a cool looking game. I really like the touch screen controls too.
And Modnation's track building looked great & LBP using touch controls could make building levels easier than ever! The rpg & Street Fighter X Tekken looked good too (Cole!).
I was impressed by Sony. I liked how they talked about PSN and then got down to business. Awesome, Awesome show for them.
Nintendo really MUST bring their best to the table tomorrow. They are going to have to do a lot to combat the Vita. It is going to be the Vita VS the 3DS. Same price points for both (249). Nintendo really has to step up their game...otherwise they might have to worry about the Vita...
Personally, I've already bought a 3DS. I don't regret buying one. And I can't afford a Vita too (sadly. wish I was rich. lol). So I've made my choice. I'm sticking with it. Can't wait to play the 3DS games. Though, I admit, after seeing Vita...I am a little worried...
Great job Sony!
Grade: A
----------------------------------
Btw, Steph, I saw some footage of the new Elder Scrolls! Oh man! I WANT THIS GAME! NOW! Seriously. Wow. Dragons, detailed enviorments, 150 dungeons (I believe), and over 300 hours of gameplay! *drools* It looks GREAT.
I'll try to post a link to footage/a preview of it soon.
Btw, I know its off topic, but it is related to Nintendo. I downloaded their 3DS update! The internet brower is better! It can't use Youtube, but it does Facebook & twitter better. Its a little slow too, but better than the DSi browser.
Oh and the Eshop is a mess right now. I mean, it looks great, but its buggy (errors). I think because lots of people are trying to use it right now. lol. I did manage to download Excitebike (its cool). I want to buy Super Mario Land too...

You better believe there is over 300 hours of game play. I'm up to like 500+ on Oblivion probably and there's still dungeons I haven't even found, and storylines I haven't even seen. There is sooo much stuff to do in these games.

The new Elder Scrolls looks amazing Steph. Just wow. Anyway, I saw Nintendo's press conference today, here are my impressions: NINTENDONintendo started out great with lots of ZELDA. Skyward Sword (Wii), Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening (Gameboy Color) out for download on the 3DS Eshop TODAY, Four Swords for FREE download on the DSi in September, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarnia of Time this month on the 3DS. *drools* Then....five really cool games were shown for the 3DS: Kid Icarus, Mario Kart, Super Mario 3DS, Star Fox 3DS, and Luigi's Manison 2. All of them looked great. But....ANIMAL CROSSING 3DS was NOT shown! Very disappointed with that. Also...Skyward Sword was the ONLY Wii game shown. The rest of the conference, after the 3DS, was Nintendo showing off their new console, the Wii UI have to say that the Wii U is a very lame name. Ugh. As for the console, well actually they didn't even show the console...they focused on its controller. The controller has a touch screen, a motion sensor, camera, microphone, two circle pads, a d-pad, buttons, and you can transfer games from the console to the controller. All very neat features...but...not really what I expected or was hoping for. I guess I was hoping they would do something VERY different and...this only looks slightly different. Overall, some neat stuff from Nintendo. Especially the Zelda stuff and Luigi's Manison and the other 3DS games. That said, I think Sony did a better job. Grade: B+ Of course, maybe its just the no Animal Crossing thats taking them down to a B+ for me...lol. DF2506

My impressions on some E3 games I've seen: Elder Scrolls: Skyrim: The PS3 will def. be my console of choice for this game Steph. Of course, I don't have a 360 and I'm not really a PC gamer. Anyway, the game looks great. I was especially wowed by the DRAGONS in this game. Very detailed, very cool looking. But the enviroments, especially outside, look extremely detailed. And it looks like they may have the third person mode right this time. The character seemed to walk naturally in the third person mode and the shift between modes seemed to be quick & easy. Very cool. Uncharted 3: Wow! The demo shown at E3 is amazing. It takes place on a big boat, with Drake making way around and taking out some guards as he goes. When he gets down to a huge hangar in the boat, he gets ambushed by a bunch of guys, gets into a shot out, and a hole is opened up in the ship! The ship goes sideways and Drake has to make his escape. Oh man. Very cool stuff. Star Trek: Its just a trailer, but I was wowed. The trailer says this pre-alpha graphics/gameplay, but I thought it was impressive already. The game is based on the most recent Trek movie (by J.J. Abrams). Kirk & Spock were shown in the trailer, along with the Enterprise, a shuttle, outerspace, some shootouts. Hopefully this game will come together & the gameplay will be really fun. Luigi's Manison 2 (3DS): Luigi is back to do some ghost-busting. In the trailer for this game, Luigi goes into a manison, collects coins, and sucks up ghosts with a vacuum cleaner. The game looks to have a lot of exploration and Nintendo has said that there are several manison for Luigi to go too. This is a really impressive looking game. It'll be out next year. Battlefield 3: I'm not really a huge first person shooter fan, but wow, the graphics on this game are amazing. It looked like I was watching a movie. Mass Effect 3: It looked good, but personally, I miss how the first one was. Since #2, Mass Effect has been getting away from a lot of its rpg trappings and focusing on more action. Sad. Animal Crossing 3DS: Just a trailer at E3. I'm a bit worried that this game will not be out this year. On the 3DS it says 'Coming Soon'....2012 is not soon Nintendo! lol. Anyway, the game looks great. In the trailer a ton of new features were shown. The most impressive feature is Swimming. Also Diving. And since the human characters are taller in this game, you can now put pants, shorts, dresses for girls, and shoes/boats on characters. The trailer also showed more animal interaction, outside furniture (a bench, streetlamps), and more. I want this game now!
