I picked up Chrono Trigger for the DS. It has all the anime cinematics that the PS1 version has and personally I think the game could do without those. The girl that sold it to me said that it has two new endings so thats good to hear. Speaking of that, this is the second time I've bought a DS remake of a classic Square game where a cutie girl was there to sell it to me behind the counter who was also into games. I see a trend happening. I look forward to Square's next DS remake in hopes to go for a third In any case, I won't be playing Chrono Trigger right away. I feel like going back to my Final Fantasy run so I started FF6 for GBA. Not very far in but I am in love once again. I love this game so much. The characters are great, the story is fun and Kefka is still my favorite RPG villain. Love him. The translation to the game is diiferant than Teddy's SNES one. Which I am fine with. It is almost the same and it does the trick. I notice some differances but it doesn't bother me either way. The only thing they kept from Teddy's version were character names I think. Terra is still Terra and not Tina etc. I keep those names cause thats what I know. The one problem I am having with the game though is the music. We all know that the GBA versions have diferant sound quality than the originals. I was ok with that for FF4 and 5 cause they weren't that bad. But the sound differance from SNES to GBA is too drastic for my taste and I don't like it. But, oh well, I'll get used to it.

From what I read about FFVI, they dramatically changed Kefka's character, and I am NOT ok with that. He was a nutjob, as an evil clown should be!
I finally beat Re:CoM (cheated though...spammed the hell outta Sonic Blade) and have started Riku's story...and I'm pretty disappointed with it. The story started out great with the promise of seeing KH1 from Riku's perspective. Cept no. It's just CoM with Riku. They had the chance to tell Riku's side from Traverse Town, Agrabah, etc etc, but all you do is go through a very small version of it and fight the boss and then the next story snippit is back in Castle Oblivion. I'm pretty upset about that. But I'll beat it. Just to say I did, and then I'll never have to play it again.
..and it's pretty obvious they knew people wouldn't want to play it again...because there's a Theatre mode that lets you watch all the cutscenes. >_>

I wouldn't be either. I love Kefka, I hope he wasn't changed. The little bit I've seen of him he seems the same so far. But I'm still in the Narshe mines as hockey was more interesting to me tonight. I only hope you are wrong though.

So far, the only real change in Kefka is the "Son of a Submariner" line. Now it's "Son of a sandworm" I like the old one better but its not that big of a deal. Its not as memorable as the "Spoony Bard" line

For decades now, the original Super Mario Bros. was the highest selling game of all time. But recently, a new game has taken over the title. Any guesses? Its Wii Sports. Makes sense considering its packaged with each Wii and everyone and their grandmothers and aunts and mothers are buying one. FF6 has been fun. I'm still not too far. I am at the part where I can "choose my own adventure". I will probably do Locke's first cause its the funnest and I also get to see Celes. She's my favorite character in the game.

I don't think Wii Sports should count towards a total like that. It's not like people buy it for that game >_>
Got to the point of FF4 that I hate the most: the dark elf cave. Cecil already takes a hit worse than Tellah. He doesn't need any more help XD

Have been playing Wii animal crossing with DF and his dad Dave, and mom Patsy. they are a hoot! His dad is a crack up! DF said he doesnt have internet access right now, and I called him a liar. He has a Wii, and visits other towns, uses a keyboard on the wii, so if he downloads the internet channel, which is FREE, he can come visit. he said...DOH! So, you may see him, but he has been busy doing family time. Dad is doing well after open heart, and mom is fishing her time away in game. VERY nice family. HElped me alot. Their town is UBER.
So, between Animal Crossing, and HArvest Moon, I have been playing baby games! hehehe! I love mah baby games.

So another change in FF6 is when you go rescue Celes. In the SNES version it shows her chained up and a guard punching her. Now she is just standing there, no chains and the guard is not punching her. I find it funny how in the SNES days they removed churches from these games and renamed Holy cause they were small referances to religion. And yet they allowed a woman getting beaten while in prison. And now, in the age we live in with so much violence in video games, blood and guts, and having sex with hookers, NOW they decide to remove Celes getting punched in the gut. I woulda understood back in the day why they woulda removed it but nowadays, come ON. We've seen ten times worse in games now, why even bother?

For those who have plaed FF6 (all of us I am sure)
I just entered the forest right before the Doom Train. With Sabin, Cyan and Shadow. I have never seen this before but after a random encounter, Shadow was all like "I have earned my pay." and he leaves. The next encounter killed me cause Shadow wasn't around (Sabin got killed and Cyan had a Stop spell cast on him. Sitting ducks.) I start up again and THIS time Shadow doesn't leave. He follows me all the way to the train. Never have I seen him leave before the train like that.
I am not sure if that is a GBA feature or glitch. Or if the original game has it where Shadow randomly leaves you. Has anyone else encountered that in either a SNES play through or PS1 or GBA?

He just leaves randomly. No way to stop it either.

Is that so? I've never seen that before. Every other time I played he would leave shortly before Gau came in....I think.
It was never random though. It was always at the same point.

It's not "entirely" random and there *is* a way to stop it. It has to do with the order you complete the scenarios, only I no longer remember the order, other than doing Sabin's scenario first undoubtedly causes him to leave early.
Shadow will always leave at the same point in the story depending on the order of the scenarios, unless you run away from the battle, because the script is only programmed to execute upon victory. The randomness comes is *when* he finally decides to ditch you.
This may have changed with the GBA re-release, but it did not change in the PSX version.
Except for my first playthrough, I always did Sabin's last because his takes fooorrreeeeever, and Shadow never left me when I did that. It could be a coincidence, however, since after he did leave me the first time, I tended to run away from every random encounter til the the Phantom Train. >.>
Oh and if you really want to talk glitches, Sketch Gau in the Veldt when he tries to rejoin the party after Leaping, or Sketch Intangir on Triangle Island. The game will freeze for a second and then all SORTS of weird shit will happen. Party member will randomly change *IN THE BATTLE*, colors go berserk, and Relm can disappear entirely. Oh, and then open your inventory if your game hasn't froze completely after the battle (which it might). This glitch can add random items to your list, it can give you extras, it can screw up the order of items, or my personal favorite, give you 50 Illuminas, 50 Ragnaroks, 50 Atma Weapons, and 50 Paladin Shields. And 50 isn't me pulling a random number out of my ass, I mean literally, you get 50 of those items sometimes.
Yes I've played this game far too much.

Wow, this is all news to me (with Shadow) Maybe every time I played it I played the Sabin scenario the same time each time. I honestly can't remember though..
I knew about some of that stuff with Relm. I've read things like that before. I don't want to give it a try though. DOn't want to screw up my save file cause I am sure that is a possibility.
