Or you take the ladies with the petrification shield into the fight and blink and you win.

DF! I have an important question about FF4 DS.
Is the line "You spoony Bard!" still in the game? And if it is, was it done in speech? If so....well that itself might just strike my curiousity.

Or you take the ladies with the petrification shield into the fight and blink and you win. WELL, even the Algol is pure luck. In my case, I didn't have Precis, Chisato, or Opera, so the Algol trick was impossible. So, he kicked my ass 75% of the time. I'm also playing FF4 DS now, and I looove it. I'm really liking the changes that I'm seeing so far. I haven't gotten to the spoony bard thing yet though, but soon! I'll post an update later if DF doesn't beat me to it.

I'm still trying to beat FF3 (NES) here. I made it to the last boss but the thing is freakin cheap as hell. It only has one attack, Flame Wave, but its AoE and does 2000 damage to everyone. It damn annoying. I'll have to grind more I guess. I'm dead determined to beat this with a REAL party instead of the cheapo 2 Ninjas spamming Shurikens and 2 Sages spamming Cure 4 and Bahamut. And I here I thought I'd have this game beat today.

Ya, You Spoony Bard! is in the game...BUT...no...its not done in speech. Yes, I was definitly disappointed... Still, an awesome game imo. VERY hard game too. They have definitly upped the difficulty in the game! Also: The new Augment system is very cool (you get these things called Augments that let you assign ablites to members of your team. Like Auto-potion, counter, etc, etc). Other things: the voice acting is good imo. The graphics are top notch and the story is still very much FF4. The game is, basically, Final Fantasy 4---with better graphics, some voice acting, tougher boss battles, the Augment system, and more. So, its remade, but its still very much the classic game it always was. (aside: I also found out that there's a New Game+ added to the game too. Awesome). Currently, I'm in the cave where you have to fight the Dark Elf. He beat me once and I'll have to go try fighting him again. lol. My current party is: Cecil, Tellah, Yang, and Cid. DF2506

Argh I hate the Dark Elf fight, it's so hard to get through that damn cave without decent armor AND with without a strong mage. Tellah is OK but he should be drunk at all times due to all the ethers he has to drink to keep going. I know there is a reason for his low MP, but still. I'm about to head to Baron again, Cecil just donned his girlie clothes and it's time to kick some ass. I'm just goofing around at the moment though, I'm enjoying Porom and Palom while I have the chance. I'm with DF, loving the game! I'm happy with the voice acting so far, minus Kain. His voice just ain't right. I didn't imagine Kain sounding so masculine, his voice should be about like Cecil's, maybe a little deeper... not THAT deep.

I did get through the cave (ran from alot of battles though. lol). As for Tellah, ya...I wish his MP was more too... That event in Baron with them was even more powerful this time around imo. The voice-acting has definitly made some of the classic moments even cooler! I don't know. I like Kain's voice acting. I think its fits. The only one I'm not sure about is Cid. Kind of strange. lol. I think the only small disappointment in the game so far, as I mentioned, was that You Spoony Bard wasn't voice acted. That would have been hilarous! hehe. Oh well. Anyway, I haven't gone back to fight that Dark Elf yet. Yep, I'm putting it off... I'll probably try again later tonight though. Definitly can't wait to see more of the game. DF2506

Ye know...even though I like my FF4 in 2D I might pick this up. I will not play this right away cause the whole point of my ff retrospective is to see the the series progress from 2D to3D and so on adn see how the series changed over the decades. But I might just check this out. We shall see.

I'm gonna restart FFIV DS, I bought the guide to go with it, and I've missed several items. I don't like missing items, so I'm gonna start again. From what I'm reading, I may not be able to get the characters that leave back at the end of the game like you could in the GBA version. I hope I can.

I want it but I'm not shelling out for a DS just for this. I'll wait til next-next gen comes out and pick it up for a steal. Still playing .hack//GU, something's finally managed to keep my attention. At least for now.

Soriead: Ya, we got the guide too, though, I guess I wasn't paying attention it to it when I first played, so I missed stuff. lol. Oh well, there's always next playthrough...
If I can get through this playthrough...lol!
I've been trying to beat that the Dark Elf and he is terrible! Oh man. I've gotten to his second form now, but that Dark Breath keeps wipping my party out. Not sure what to do. lol. Maybe I should build up more? I don't know...
Anyway, it is a great game, but no one can accuse it of being an easy game (a "dumbed down" remake this is not). lol.

Dark Elf was hard even in the "Stoopid Americans" version. I remember having to whore out Yang to beat him, and keep having Cecil Cover him. I let Cid play healer. He's about as fast as Rosa so there wasn't much difference. It's hard to keep up with his damage though when he goes uber dragon, so sometimes you just gotta improvise, but keep Yang attacking as much as he can. If he dies and you have to waste a turn to revive him, you've pretty much lost so...yeah. >_>

Yeah that was a hard fight. I remember the one that always pisses me off is that one right before Cagnazzio. Where the general is an imposter and you have to fight him. You can attack his arms and his body. You can kill the arms but they regenerate after a while. Ah, I'm sure you guys know who I'm talking about. I can't remember his name. He angers me.
I beat FF3 just now. I can't get over how much easier the fight is at level 60 (I first tried at 55) My emulator has a record video feature so I might make a video of it and pop it on You Tube here in the near future. FF4 will be started here soon. Its kinda ironic. I'm playing FF4 around the same time everyone is playing the remake. I didn't plan it like this though. I will check out the remake sometime in the future though.

Beigen... I think that was his name. I just know that the turtle boss was a realllll letdown after him. Thundaga x2 = win I can't see myself getting back my DS for the 3-D version. Same reasons as I said before. I played the hard version of the game before, so the challenge isn't really worth it either. I remember Caller getting to the end and fighting zeromus... than everyone but cecil/kain died every big bang. Was humourous

FINALLY beat the Dark Elf!!! Gah. I had to go to gamewinners and look up a walkthrough there. The stradegy there worked and now I'm ready to go to the Tower of Zot!
Man, I really like this game...but the boss battles are just...*shivers*
Anyway, I'll probably play more of the game soon.
