Amusing Augment match #2, Kain + Cry Augment = LOL Big manly man bawling like a baby. Trying to complete Tower of Babil, the multiple Flame Beast fights are giving me a hard time. I also completely missed the Calcabrina fight, because I defeated the dolls too quickly, and dashed my hopes of completing the Bestiary this play through. Oh well. The Golbez fight after that was annoying, he sucked all the MP from Cecil and Rosa, and I ran out of Phoenix Downs because he repeatedly killed people after I just raised them. But, I got Rydia back, hurray. That was my favorite scene in the game, getting her back.

Not sure if the DS has this or not but I'm going through the Cave of Trials that was introduced in the GBA version. I forgot you need the "other" characters to get the wepons in here so I went through the whole thing was Kain, Rydia, Cecil, Rosa and Edge but I need the other five characters to access the boss fights. Oh well. Tonight.

I don't think the DS version does. The other characters were essentially replaced by Augments, that gave a character's respective skills and more. I wish the DS version would have included the side dungeon and the other characters.

Never played the GBA verison. I'm pretty happy with the Augments (Draw Attacks + Counter is so great). Also, I'm VERY happy they included a New Game Plus+ in this. Plus, two new extra hard bosses! lol.
Anyway, I'm in the home of the Summons. I beat the Queen of Summons, but I'm having a hard time with the King! After I finally get him though, it'll be time to go to the Sealed Cave.

I'm a little worried about facing Asura, from the way the guide phrased it, it sounds like it's damn near impossible to kill her. One thing I have to say is that I'm enjoying the new difficulty of this game. I love it when a game is actually challenging, not many games provide that for me, outside of the Tomb Raider games. Last game I've played that I considered hard was Tomb Raider Anniversary. Ugh, those last few levels were murder! Jump, swing, jump, swing, GRAPPLE!!!, swing, ZOMGJUMP, jump, grap--- *screaming death #17... Load game.* If you have the chance DF, you should give the GBA version of the game a shot. The graphics are the same as the SNES and PS, but new (and very long) side dungeon is a lot of fun. And you get Edward, Yang, Palom, Porom, and Cid back at the end of the game. Being able to get the twins back made my day, Porom is probably my favorite character.

Stephanie, Asura is hard, but nowhere as hard as the king. Whoa. He's VERY hard. I still haven't beaten him.
I beat Asura in one try, but you have to use reflect on her (and re-apply it when it wears off). Then you just have to hang in there and keep hitting her. So, its a LONG battle, but it definitly can be beaten.
That king, on the other hand, *shivers*
Also: doubt I'll ever play the GBA verison of FF4. It sounds neat, but I still have the PS1 verison of FF4, so if I ever get back a Sony system again (lol), I'll play that again (mainly for comparisons sake).
If not, well, I really love this FF4 DS remake. I actually like it better then the orignal (and I liked that alot).
As for my favorite in FF4, its probably Kain. Or Rydia (those summons are awesome). But FF4 has a lot of good characters.
On a different note, can't wait till the FF6 remake. Thats going to be great! (FF6 is my favorite of the NES/SNES era FFs. A remake should be a blast).
DF2506 " Is still slightly disappointed that CTDS isn't a remake. Still, can't wait to play Chrono Trigger again! "

I never really had a problem with Leviatan (intentional misspell ). If I could survive the initial and ongoing tsunamis, he was just a real pushover. Just have to kill him before Rosa's mp craps out. Asura was tough for me cuz she's so danged random with her attacks, AND they hurt like heck. Got Soul Calibur IV yesterday. Will play it soon and see if it's an improvement. I didn't like the 3rd that much, and only played it for like a week or so before it was boring to me. The one-player mode in that game didn't grab me at all either

Asura was tough for me cuz she's so danged random with her attacks, AND they hurt like heck. In the DS verison, from what I saw, Asura wasn't as random. She mainly uses healing spellls (one of the cures, raise, protect). If you put Reflect on her, the battle isn't too bad. Its a LONG battle, yes, but its not as hard as the Leviatan. Now, with Leviatan, his tsunami attack is terrible. I haven't been lasting too long in that fight. The DS verison has definitly made some of the fights alot harder then the previous verisons. Its definitly not a "dumbed down verison." lol. DF2506

Ok, I am NOT having any luck with games latly. After my keyboard and connection crapping out on me in WoW recently when I had a good group, FF4 decided to fuck me over as well. I was doing the Cave of Trials, I had a few bosses down and was going for the boss that had Palom's weapon. Well the game glitched out on my GBA player and the colors on the screen were going all crazy, the sound was glitchy and the game was unresponsive. So I figure the only thing I really can do is reset. I do so, and get to the title screen only to see.....New Game....and NO Load Game option. All my saved progress is GONE! I am freakin PISSED right now! Christ, first World of Warcraft craps out on me and now FF4. In all honesty, I don't even feel like playing anything at the moment. I'm scared to touch my 360 now cause I know my bad luck will probably short circut the damn thing. XD Eh, I'll probably start a new on FF4 tomorrow. This time on my DS. I don't know if the GBA player had anything to do with it but I don't see how. I'm just getting frustrated right now with everything

That sounds like a hardware faux pas. You should consider having that -- why there's an interesting sig -- looked at.
We tried SC4 tonight and besides the massive amounts of porno in it, it's the same old button mashing fun. I'm no fan of Yoda however, he's a cheap little asshole. He's reaaaalllly weak but he attacks so fast and jumps around like a gnat with ADD that he'll win by slashing the crap outta your face before you know the battle's over. But I still lub Talim. Slashy slashy ♥
The story mode really blows this time around but they traded it in for a much better customization interface. You can build your own costumes of existing characters, and you can start from scratch too. Of course they'll be clones but take what you can get. Speaking of clones though, there are some pre-made characters that are clones (I'm looking at you Angol Fear) to begin with. Some have some subtle differences (Amy) but by and large they're just the same fighter in a different costume and/or gender. Seriously people, it's 2008 and what, 4th generation consoles. ENOUGH WITH THE CLONES.

Bah, I started a new game. Atleast it only took me about 11 hours of playtime to get to that point. The way I see it, thats half of Metal Gear Solid 4 and I was able to play that game 3 times in a row. Still pisses me off though. I'm playing on my DS just to be safe though.
I tried making that video of the FF3 final boss. The sound is a bit off though so I want to keep trying it till I get it right. I'm also looking at video editing software just for some small customizations. I hope I can get this working properly cause I do want to have a FF3 video on You Tube.
I'm curious about SC4. I only played a bit of 2. I find it strange that they put Vader and Yoda in the game.

Vader and Yoda are cool, but I did like how the last one put Link on the Gamecube verison. That was VERY cool. Anyway, about FF4 DS: I got the Safe Travel augment and I'm on the moon. That Safe Travel augment is GREAT! No random battles! Whew. Although, I'm definitly going to have to take it off soon and do some more random battles to level up more. lol. Oh well.. I did get the Kick augment and gave it to Cecil. Btw, Kick + Draw Attacks + Counte = AWESOME! Really. Its very handy. I have to level up so that I can do better with those beasts before Bahamunt (sp?). Then, I have to try and beat him. *sigh* After that...it'll be back to the Overworld and....the Giant of Babil! DF2506 " Man, this game has so many unique locations. It would be cool if one of the new ones could do this many different locals."

I fought Rubicante earlier today. His Inferno attack *really* hurt. So much, in fact, that it killed Rydia, Rosa, and Edge. Unfortunately, I made the mistake of using Dualcast Berserk + Haste on Cecil, and Rubi's Fira counter ended up killing off Kain. I still won the fight, thanks to Cecil's absurdly high HP.
Fought Asura, wasn't as hard as the guide described. However, Cecil was being CLOBBERED because Kain has the Avenger equipped, so I really had to watch him. Blink was a boon for that fight.
Fought Leviathan, and indeed, that fight was close at times. Deluge did 1000-2000 dmg to everyone with Protect and Shell up, and he started using it every turn at the end. Thank god for Dualcast! Cecil can take that sort of damage no problem, but the others... I'm amazed they didn't wipe each time he used it!

Well Cecil is a Dark Knight again and Rydia is, once again, a little girl. Still a bit frustrated but I am still having fun. I'm plowing through the game though. I'm skipping all the cutscenes and I have auto run turned ON. I usually have it set to OFF cause I prefer taking my time but I'm playing cath-up right now. So with this new augment system, does it allow someone whose name ISN"T Edward use the Hide ability? Just curious. Not that I'd see any point for that.

Yes, that is correct. Augments are key items that teach party members new battle commands, like Hide, Bluff, Recall, etc. So, you could give Cecil Edward's Hide command... but good god, why would you want to do that? It's only unique character commands, doesn't give things like Black Magic or White Magic. Also some new abilities are in there too, like Gil Farmer, Treasure Hunter, and Dualcast. I think they took some lingo from FFXI in this game, the guide even refers to Cecil as PLD or DRK.
