I am not that interested in this game and it may very well be the first in the series that I pass on when its released. Either way, I found the main website for it with character names and such. www.square-enix.co.jp/fabula/ff13/Its all in Japanese still but its something for now. I wish it was in English for the character section alone. I am still not convinced that the one character that we've seen in all the trailers (the one called Lightning) is a female. Sure I see a bump on his/her chest but this is Square-Enix after all. I'm still half expecting for them to tell that she has the ol' footlong hiding between those legs of hers......er, his. XD Anyways, FF13. Discuss!

She's a female. FF13 is a stylized remake of FF7. The story will be extremely identical down to the landscape and plot devices and all the characters are reinvented. Lightning IS Cloud. She was designed specifically to be a female Cloud. So don't worry about the game being delayed; you've already played it.

Well they keep saying there will be some new ideas and such (like I'm guessing Shiva-cycle) but I've seen the characters as they come out and so far, and they do seem to have correlations to previous ones. The newest one I've seen is a black guy with an Afro and a pimp stick. ...with a chocobo in his hair. He's a covert leader of an underground group (Avalanche rings a bell...) so there's Barret. www.rpgamer.com/games/ff/ff13/propaganda/ff1333.jpgDY NO MITE! /wrist

I dunno about the whole FFVII thing. I haven't read anything at all about that. But to be honest I haven't been looking into it much either. Even if it was it wouldn't really bother me as I liked FFVII. Oh and some game play finally. Watch at the end: na.square-enix.com/ff13/Now, I know you guys probably won't like that... but I'm watching this and thinking "Holy shit, I want some of that." I honestly thought that trailer looked fucking fantastic. I know everyone loves bitching about SE (hell, I certainly do) but I'm really liking how FFXIII is coming on so far. I'm getting tired of traditional RPG's and I'm really looking forward to playing something futuristic / steam punk / whatever the fuck this is. Pretty much every RPG I've played this generation has been a big smack of mediocrity and for a long time I thought FFXIII was headed the same way. But damn, did that video tickle my fancy for this. Maybe my tastes are changing, but I really liked how that looked. I just hope they're better with this White Engine (or whatever it's called nowadays) than they are with the UnReal one. Last Remnant frame rate issues and load times will kill this game judging by how fast it is. >.> Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to seeing how the different versions of the game look. My bet is go for the PS3 version.

I'm just not a fan of the over stylized fighting. You can't even tell whats going on half the time much like Advent Children. But I will agree that RPGs are getting repetetive and are not as good as they once were. There havn't been many that have even caught my interest these last few years.
So is that battle system a turn based one or what? Its hard to tell when there is that much going on XD

It is supposed to be similar to the FF X-2 battle system with a little bit of Chrono Cross built in. in this one when its your turn you have differnt type attacks. And each attack costs so many "Bars" and you have 3 bars per round. So it could be interesting.

I remember the bars from CC but they really didn't do anything. They're probably going to use Stamina then (CC) and what attacks you use will determine your next turn (FFX-2). So it's still somewhat turn based then. Well that makes the over-the-top battle sequences somewhat more bearable then. I like what Nomura did in KH but god he needs to stop with the psychotic aerial battles.

I'll slash you with my sword... but not down here on the ground silly! *smacks up, and then stays up in the air for five minutes defying every law of gravity* It doesn't look too bad. Have to agree with UC that finding a good RPG any more is hard. Then again, it doesn't help their situations when all the companies are just going with what works and churning it out over and over again. The shooting genre is more infamous for this, but the RPG market seems to be afraid to branch out as well. I am looking forward to this, and Star Ocean 4. Maybe they'll revive the genre. Or who knows... I'll become a Halo tard *EDIT'D* Not like Halo is a bad game, just most of the people I play against make me wonder about kids nowadays.

You know what I find funny? Metal gear solid and Final Fantasy for the PS3 were both announced on the same day.
We have Metal Gear, but still barely any info in Final Fantasy. Metal gear solid was a huge game, it actually filled up an entire BLu ray. thats 50gigs of space. They had to cut different languages to make room. There is no reason we shouldnt already have this game, its not nearly as big as Metal Gear. (I would hate to see 50 gigs broken down into all those discs for the 360 LOL) We are 4 years into the life of the PS3 and we have no FF. Barely any RPG's at all really. This generation of gaming is a letdown.

This generation of gaming is a letdown. I agree with this. So much infact that I am going back and playing a lot of old school games latly cause theres not enough *new* to keep me interested in the industry. There have been some good games this generation but it seems like companys are more interested in forcing games down our throats instead of making anything unique.

No, it was mentioned some time ago that SE is putting it on 360 aswell. If you don't have either then go and get a 360. It is a cheaper way of playing the game. Any game for that matter.
