It might be a Japanese thing. Make the girls looks as freaking young as possible. Pedo stuff right there. Then again maybe its not a Japanese thing. Mr. Itagaki (the dude behind the Dead or Alive and Ninja Gaiden games) always makes his female characters extremely big breasted. But atleast they look like actual women. Well maybe not like ACTUAL women, sometimes they don't even look human but atleast he makes em look a propor age. XD
Picked up the game today. Will start playing after I beat Dragon Age. I like the box art. Just a picture of Lightning with a white background and the FFXIII logo. Simple and too the point. I think more games need more simplistic covers like this sometimes. A lot of box arts seem to be over extravagent and have too much on the cover. Sometimes simplicity is nice.

ok, figured it out. Lightening is supposed to have just celebrated her 21st birthday. Since she was the older sister, that means Sarah was at least 20 or younger. Hope acts like he is 12, and Vanille acts like she is 12 but has a bit of curve to her.
I beat the shiva twins. Took some trial and error to do it. fight/guard/fight/guard trying to get my guard up before I got smacked. I finally did it, but it took several tries.
The story is really starting to unfold a bit. Like explaining why Lightening was on that train to start with full of folks being forced to relocate. She is a soldier! why would she chose to be on a train full of folks being forced to leave? So...at least answers are slowly coming.
The black guy is funny with a chocobo in his fro. I am just at the part where I can upgrade my weapons with items I have found laying about. I will have to read up on that so I dont waste items.

OKay so why do weapons and accessories have EXP? Nothing happens with that 0/300 EXP line. Ugh.
We played a lot last night. We finished the crystal area. It wasn't so bad. Battle seems too easy now that I am learning new abilities. But why isnt the entire Crystalis available from the start? THey don't want me to overpower my characters? *Cries*
Not bad so far. We stopped when Snow became playable again. damnit

OKay so why do weapons and accessories have EXP? Nothing happens with that 0/300 EXP line. Ugh. It opens up to you in a little bit with what you can do with them. It seems that if you want to over power your characters, upgrading weapons is the way to do it... >.> Progressing nicely with the game. Ridiculously thin chick number 9000 just showed up and she seems to be pretty weird. Especially that accent. Voice acting has definitely taken a serious blow. Compared to XII it is bloody awful. Oh and to Norfy, I would definitely take Mr. Itagaki's women over Nomura's. At least you know they're women (who knows what Lightning's got down there.... *despite SE trying to show me with as many up camera shots as humanly possible*).

I am just now at the point of getting ODIN! wooo! I hear he likes healers, so its gonna be one of those fights. Lightening (just call me Light!) is a Prissy little self centered pain in the arse! She is just so...full of shit! She acts like she wants everyone to leave her alone, yet she keeps hanging around! run off biatch! GO! STop at the sammich shop on your way out! I am liking the game, but trying to figure out which way to upgrade my weapons. I am going back and double/triple fighting in some areas, to uptake my CP so I can upgrade skills, and such. I have Light and Hope in my party right now. GAWD! he is like a wet sack! he is paper thin, and easy to cut. I have to find a way to boost his def or kill him myself. At least he is a good medic. So far...fun!

Enjoying the game a lot!
I think this just might be my favorite PS3 Final Fantasy. Oh wait...
Still, I think I might like it better than 10. Definitly better than 12 (never did get too attached to the battle system or the characters in that one, where as becoming very attached to most of the characters in 13. Expect for Hope of course. Although, he's starting to get less whiney now. FINALLY. Plus I can finally take him out of my party! Yes! )
Anyway, its a really fun game. Its also a very HARD game. Wow. Especially the boss battles. Whew. Just had a couple of hard battles today (one battle last night was so hard that I felt like throwing the controller at the screen. lol).
Great game! Can't wait to play more!

I am impressed with how much strategy is involved in the game. its not a mindless leave town, smack till you drop and get ten levels kinda game. you have to be thinking, and you must pay attention when you are fighting or you wont know when to switch to a new job set to save your ass.
I am loving it so far.

Sounds good. I find I am liking games to be harder than I used to latly. Does the game still make use of Save Points? I think its time for those to go.

Yeah, save points are still in use. Although I don't really see the point in them. There is literally one round every single corner.
Now I'm not saying that having loads of save points is a bad thing, but with how many there are in this game you may as well have made so you could just save anywhere. >.>
I've never really understood why more RPG's just don't do that.

WHy cant the healer cast protect? Really?
I got to the junk yard boss thing and stopped. I need to make some of my own Paradigms because I hate that while my synergist is buffing the Sabatour is just standing there. I forgot to edit them before the boss. I kinda don't like that some roles cant do any side stuff. Like I would like a Ravager to be able to throw out a potion or something. I honestly think I liked the Gambit system better.
Its not bad but I still don't love it yet. I seem to be going through this very slow, and the linear path is kind of driving me crazy. I can guarantee almost every split leads to a chest (Floating ball really?) And there is no exploring. I really want to get to a big open area. Oh well.

Fighting a really hard boss right now. This guy seems like the final boss, but he's not. I checked the Guide and there's still lots more of the game left. lol. I'm not 100% positive that I'll get past this guy though...
If I get a chance tonight, I'll fight him again. I'm guessing though that I'm going to have to back track on the level a little and do A LOT of building up.
Oh and it looks like I might have to use Hope. Well, unless I get somebody else with protect and shell. lol.
Overall, even though the game is very hard, I'm liking it a lot.
Edit: lol. STILL stuck on this boss fight. I'm now trying to level up my people. Man, this boss battle is Awful. I hope I can get past it. I'd really hate to get stuck here...

DF, which boss is it? I'm curious to see whether it was the tough boss I just beat... xD I must admit, this game is starting to grow on me. I think what it is, is that the first few chapters just suck. >.> From chapter 7 onwards, this game has been awesome. Really enjoying it since a certain party member joined. Plus the characters actually started bonding! I never thought that something like that would make a difference, but since Lightning has actually started showing her personality, (well, whatever little there is...) it's gotten much better. Still, Sazh is the best character so far. Really, really like him and his back story. Plus the whole ending to chapter 8 was cool. (Although I was definitely plugging for him to pull that trigger... >.>) Vanille is still as annoying as ever, so I won't be using her if I can get away with it. Seriously, battles with her in *actually* sound like a full blown orgy is going on. xD I just started chapter 10 now and chapter 9 was awesome. I can't tell you why, but I really, really enjoyed that chapter. I'm only a little ways into 10, but this is fun too. I'm rocking with Lightning, Fang and Sazh and everything is dying within seconds. It may be that I blew through all my supplies by upgrading everyone's weapons to Lv 25ish, but meh. It works. So yeah, to sum it up I'm really enjoying this game now and taking it slow, trying to do everything. Looking forward to hitting the famous chapter 11 too. Apparently Versus XIII will have BOTH controllable airships and a worldmap. So, it seems like it could be an interesting RPG...

Ya, since you said you're in Chapter 10, I'm sure its the same boss (the one at the end of Ch. 9 right? ). Absolutely hated that boss. Took FOREVER to beat it. I'm VERY glad Chapter 9 is over with (though I do agree with you about the ending of Ch. 8. whoa). Now I'm in Chapter 10 and there's yet another hard boss. Though, I suspect he's not as hard as the Ch. 9 boss... Lv 25 weapons?! How did you do that? I need to do that. My people are so weak. Any tips? I can't wait to get to Ch. 11 too. Looking forward to it alot! DF2506

I got that wrong, they're level 15 weapons... I dunno why I thought they were 25. xD Easy way to upgrade, go to creature comforts and buy 36 sturdy bones and use them on the weapon you want to upgrade. This should give you an EXP multiplier of 2x. I had a whole load of good EXP giving items, so I just used them all up with this multiplier and got some good weapons out of it. Yeah, that boss was a pain. Took me a few tries too. It would have been a whole lot easier if I had used a Librascope before the fight though, instead of trying to Libra everything once the fight began. xD All I can say is thank God for Sentinels. ****Slight strategy spoilers for Chapter 10 below:**** That boss in Chapter 10 is a PAIN. I did find him harder than Chapter 9's, but maybe it was my set up. In the end, I just buffed everyone up as best I could (plus used items before the battle) and went on the all out attack, spamming potions to heal between attacking. It worked for me... but only just. (I got lucky that none of his debuffs stuck on me either, and it's these that mostly beat me in previous attempts.) The move he starts spamming in the middle of the fight is a bitch too, but you just gotta keep pushing and not stopping to heal or buff again. Like I said, it worked for me, but only just... ****End Slight strategy spoilers for Chapter 10**** I'm on chapter 11 now. Started doing some missions, but it feels weird to have no direction all of a sudden. xD Just gunna mess around and see what I can do. CP costs have just spiked to ridiculous highs now too, so gotta find a way to farm for that if I want better characters...

hvent played in a few days. RL gets in the way. I am going to restart. I am going to use that sturdy bone trick. thanks! I have been doing, and redoing areas, if for nothing else, the EXP boost. My crystalarium is maxed out, so I need to get things moving.
I am enjoying the game.
